Basic awareness course

This is a half day course constructed to have a logical narrative flow using a mixture of animated PowerPoint presentation, video, and a start and end quiz to reinforce learning.

Participants will not be expected to do any preparatory work and will not need to have any knowledge.

The course is delivered by one presenter but with a style and mixture of media that will stimulate interest and with examples that those attending remember.

As a basic course the coverage is necessarily limited but it addresses:

  • the complexities of autism,
  • sensory issues in autism,
  • the importance of assessment of needs using communication that is relevant, and
  • autism and effective use of communication, routine and schedules.

At the end of the course those attending will have a basic but clear understanding of key issues. A class size of up to 50 can be accommodated for this course.
